HERE ARE 9 FACTORS FAVOURING COFFEE FARMING IN UGANDA The local environmental conditions are favourable to coffee growing in many parts of Uganda i.e. heavy, reliable and well distributed rainfall throughout the year. Also the temperature range of between 140C and 260C favour coffee growth. The individual ownership of land in the growing areas favours coffee growing. Farmers own large tracts of land on which they have been able to grow coffee. Availability of large market for coffee domestically and foreign, Uganda’s coffee is of high quality and highly demanded in Western Europe and Asian countries. The effect of colonial legacy i.e. it made it compulsory for households to grow coffee in order to improve on their income. Presence of cheap labour recruited from household family members and neighbouring densely populated region.
