EFFECTS OF THE LIBYAN REVOLUTION OF 1969

  There was a cultural revolution in Libya; Ghadafi started by prohibiting all the imported ways of life like smoking, prostitution, and drinking Alcohol among others, this was in a bid to model the Libyan society to the original Islamic principles. Arabic was re-installed as the official language in Libyan schools and offices. This was revitalized and enabled a number of people to access the civil and employment sectors. A new political ideology was put in place that is the 3rd universal theory or Islamic law ‘’Sharia” This was to counteract the influence of socialism and capitalism in Libya. There was formation of the revolutionary command council; it was headed by Muammar Ghadafi who wished to re-assert Libya’s independence against any sort of external influence. EFFECTS OF THE SUEZ CANAL CRISIS 1956

  Many Egyptians lost their lives including over 300 soldiers, vast quantities of equipment destroyed and property damaged. The crisis was a diplomatic, political and moral victory for Egypt, the peace terms compelled Britain to flee out of Egypt hence the full control of the canal went into the hands of the Egyptians. Total independence was realized such that by January 1957 she was free at last from the excessive influence of the western European powers, she thus achieved total political, social and economic independence. The diplomatic victory elevated Nasser’s stature both in Egypt and in the Arab world. He became the leading defender of the Arab interests against imperialism. Egypt then became a centre of Arab nationalism and Nasser became a hero to be worshipped. Nasserism became the order of the day which involved Nationalism and Islamic principles. SUCCESSES OF NASSER’S FOREIGN POLICIES

  Gamel was one of the free Officers Movement that overthrew the puppet regime of King Farouk in 1952. He was first the prime minister of Egypt and later became president in 1954 after the overthrow of Muhammad Neguib. THE FOLLOWING ARE THE ACHIEVEMENT OF NASSER'S FOREIGN POLICY Nasser successfully sent expatriates to African countries to help fill the man power gap after the departure of colonial masters. These expatriates included teachers, engineers, and doctors, for example in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. Nasser promoted the use of African languages on the continent. This included Kiswahili, Arabic, Amhara, Hausa among others hence easing communication. Nasser succeeded in destabilizing the state of Israel. This was done through sponsoring the fierce fadeyeen commandos who destroyed the state of Televiv and bombarded areas in the country. Nasser succeeded in providing scholarships to African students.
