7 WAYS OF CONSERVING THE FISHERIES
The following are ways in which the Kenyan government should conserve fisheries:
Licensing fishermen to control their number thus preventing overfishing
Restricting fishing to specific seasons to allow breeding and maturing of fish
Enforcing international conventions to protect endangered fish species
Restocking of overfished waters by breeding fingerlings in the fish farms and releasing them to fisheries
Use of standard-sized nets to ensure that only mature fish are caught
Restricting the disposal of untreated wastes into fisheries to avoid pollution
Monitoring or discouraging the entry of foreign fishermen off the Indian Ocean water
