SAMPLING TECHNIQUES IN RESEARCH

  1. RANDOM SAMPLING  It is a type of probability sampling where by every individual has an equal chance to be selected in a sample. This technique involves selecting a sample randomly from the sampling frame without replacement. E.g. it is very common in Lottery’s such as Bingo and communication companies. Disadvantages - The better sample may not be chosen. - It is very tedious or tiresome. - It is time consuming especially when the population is high. - It is representative in Heterogeneous population. Heterogeneous population –means a population with different characteristics. 2. SYSTEMATIC SAMPLING  It is a sampling technique where by a sample is obtained randomly but in a systematic way. It is a sampling technique which involves selection of a sample randomly at regular intervals from the sampling frame 3.
