NEGATIVE EFFECTS OR DISADVANTAGES OF CONURBATION

 A conurbation refers to a region comprising a number of cities, large towns, and other urban areas that through population growth and physical expansion have merged to form one continuous urban and industrially developed area.

The towns have no clear demarcations or boundaries between them as it all become one large urban area.

The growth of a conurbation in many cases reflects the rates of urbanization, urban development as well as the levels of development of the country.

NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF CONURBATIONS

  • High crime rates.

  • Increased pollution levels and that is water, air, and noise.

  • Overcrowding or congestion in public parks and other public places.

  • Environmental degradation for example swamp reclamation.

  • The increased cost of living.

  • Development of slums and shanty settlements.

  • Inadequate social services.

  • Unemployment.

  • Traffic congestion and accidents.

  • Reduction of agricultural, recreational due to urban spiral.

  • Easy spread of diseases for example cholera, Ebola.

  • Moral degeneration is prostitution, drug abuse trafficking, kidnappings.

  Rock cycle is the cycle in which rocks tend to change from one type to another.
